MPI-DC: Gatewood Reflects on Baltimore and Economic Empowerment

During robertlgatewood-3in a Special Edition show on May 1st, the crew of Gatewood, Alena7, and Maxwell focused on systemic causes-and-effects of lack opportunities in the community.

Several callers chimed in following the unrest in Baltimore, including Kitra Williams,  founder of the Million Youth Peace March.

Gatewood opened the show with a powerful monologue, encapsulating what was on the minds of many.

Guest / Inventor Tackles Cervical Cancer

angela-iheomaTune in to the show on Friday April 24th and Thursday April 30th when the DC team is joined by inventor Angela Iheoma.

According to Angela, early detection could reduce the devastating effect of cervical cancer, a condition that disproportionately affects women of color.

Ms Iheoma has created a device that will allow women to be tested in their homes by a healthcare provider. She will eventually will be expanding into tele-mediciene which will allow women to take a picture of their own cervix and wirelessly send it to a provider to examine. This is however the first step and the support is needed to move it forward.
